Hugo Lombard joined the Wakefields Lawyers team in 2024.

Hugo, who is fluent in English and Afrikaans, embarked on his legal journey in the vibrant landscape of South Africa graduating with both BProc and LLB degrees. His commitment to the legal field has since led him through diverse experiences in both the public and private sectors.

Hugo’s early career unfolded in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, where he honed his legal skills and contributed to the administration of justice. Subsequently, he transitioned to private practice, making his mark as an admitted Attorney and later as Advocate at the esteemed Johannesburg Bar.

In 2018, Hugo expanded his legal horizons, gaining admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. Settling in Wellington, he has dedicated his practice to areas such as trusts, estates, succession planning, and relationship property matters. His expertise extends seamlessly to property law, showcasing a wealth of experience in navigating complex legal landscapes. Being fluent in Afrikaans, he also welcomes enquiries from South Africans here in New Zealand and abroad.

Outside of work, Hugo finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. He relishes spending quality time with his partner and shares his home with two dogs and a cat, creating a haven of companionship. Hugo enjoys entertaining and his zest for life extends outdoors, where he explores his passion for off-road cycling, combining a love for adventure with a commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
