When your family has legal issues, it’s important that you have sound legal advice.

Whether it relates to your children, partner, a relationship break-up, and/or custody issues, our Family Law team has years of experience representing clients in such matters and ensures that it does everything possible to ease the pressure that comes in these situations. We offer family law services in all four of our offices; Wellington, Paraparaumu, Otaki and Foxton.

Our Family Law team can support you with any of the following:

  • Relationship Property – You may be entering into a new relationship, getting married or finally getting around to identifying each partner’s property after many years together. In either case, you will need to put into place agreements that will comply with the law and protect your interests. We can advise you on the best and most effective way to achieve this.
  • Separation and Divorce – We understand that separation and divorce is an incredibly difficult time in people’s lives, and in the lives of their children. We can assist you to understand what your rights are to ensure you are fully informed in order to make the best decisions for you and your family. We can also provide advice on spousal and/or child maintenance entitlements and, if you have children, on child care, guardianship and child support.
  • Caring for Children – When relationships break down it can be very difficult for parents to come to agreement on how they will  co-parent their children. Often the children are caught in the middle, which is both confusing and distressing. We can help you to understand your options and the support that is available through the Family Court to help you reach an agreement and prioritise the best interests of your children.
  • Domestic Violence – If someone you are in a relationship with is being abusive, whether that be mentally, physically or sexually, we can help you to apply for a Protection Order. Those orders stipulate what if any contact you are to have with the abuser. Victims of such abuse can find it very difficult to come forward and speak to a lawyer. Our Family Law team is here to support you and provides a welcoming, passionate and confidential environment.
